I can’t quite explain what is so compelling to me about photographer Jack Johnstone from Wales in the UK. He mostly seems to focus on landscapes and abstract shapes and items but it’s his portraits that really stand out to me. I think it might be that he has found the balance between technique and a painterly sense of composition and structure. This particular photo has been on my mind for a few days since i saw it. Something about the colors, depth and subject all come together powerfully. OK, not the most precise critique but certainly something to keep in mind.
