It’s good to step away from UX and interface critiques for a moment and focus on some pure conceptual imagery. What is so striking to me about this series of photos of McDonalds signs is how something so familiar can be given an entirely different feeling by slightly changing the way it’s visually portrayed. The photographer, Zuzanna Szarek from Poland, sees this iconic logo as “an oversized monster, hovering above the city’s landscape”. There is truth to that statement both physically and conceptually. The lesson I take from this is to look look at the familiar from a different angle, literally, and observe how that can change the meaning of it.
