This is a portfolio website for a Dutch photographer and it has a lot of interesting UI details that are worth discussing. Overall I’m a fan of creative interface functionality, however, there is a risk of negatively effecting the overall user experience. This site, by Dutch agency Exo Ape, is stunning and really shows off the beauty and detail of the photographer’s work. I like the details in the cursor that give the user information and feedback, and I do like the creative image carousel effects. But all of these features along with the super high-res imagery do make the site lag a bit and I can tell it puts a strain on the processor. So I think it really is a balancing act to find the right mix of features. In this case I’d call it a success.
