I love this style of photography. I’d call it artful documentary. Christopher Payne seems to specialize in this style. This photo is part of a series for the NY Times documenting a Columbian candy factory. Mr. Payne has a pretty extensive portfolio including series taken in a pencil factory and a document of shuttered and deteriorating insane asylums. It’s the kind of work you can get lost in while learning about lost or fading ways of life. It’s beautiful and has real value which is the best way to do it.
