I’m noticing a design trend in web design but I’m having a little trouble categorizing it as one thing in specific. What I can say is that the overall aesthetic is loosening up. I think that designers are starting to feel that users are familiar enough with current UX/UI basics that they can start to tinker with them and people won’t be freaked out so much. Look at the “hamburger menu” icon in the top right. A year ago this might not have worked. I also think visually, we are entering a more free-form era. The 80’s and 90’s are back and they are taking over our screens. I think it’s a good thing actually. Web sites are becoming fun again and not so minimal in the cause of functionality.
This site is cool, not amazing but a good example of what I’m talking about.
